The National Chlamydia Screening Programme
Chlamydia is a common, treatable sexually
acquired infection. Beechwood Medical
Practice supports the national programme which
aims to offer Chlamydia testing to all sexually
active 16-24 year olds annually or after a
change of partner. Testing kits are available
from Reception and from all GPs and Practice
Nurses. For men the test requires a urine sample
and for women, a self-taken swab. Kits can also
be supplied to 16-24 year olds not registered at
the practice.
The Bristol Sexual Health Centre.
In July 2008 sexual health services
were centralised at the Central Health Clinic.
The Milne Centre sexual health services
transferred from its old home at the BRI to
the clinic, bringing Sexual Health/STi,
Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH) and
Pregnancy Advisory Services (PAS) to one site.
The Bristol Sexual Health clinic is based at
Tower Hill, close to Castle Park, central
Bristol.
The Bridge, the new regional sexual assault
referral centre, is also based at Bristol Sexual
Health Centre and can be contacted on 0117
342 6999.
